We started Glitz n' Pieces at the age of nineteen with only six weeks into our first year in college studying Entrepreneurship & Management in IADT. We were given the task to create a stall on campus where we had to sell products. We decided to sell a selection of women's accessories. Our passion for fashion then led us wanting to create an online store selling these type of accessories as our stall in the college was successful. We gathered all our pocket money and went to AIB bank to apply for a small loan.
We were very lucky to be successful so we spent the money on a small selection of stock and hiring a web designer help us create an online store.
From there we had to create our business name and logo. All we knew was that we wanted our corporate colours to be pink! After many days of thinking and drafting we chose to settle with Glitz n' Pieces as we felt that is exactly what we were selling!
Throughout our first year of college we really enjoyed all the assignments as we applied them to our business which lead us to come up with more ideas and find out more information about Glitz n' Pieces. Without the guidance and amazing support from our lecturers in college, our dream business would not have became a reality. We started receiving orders from all around Ireland and then branched out to the U.K and now we receive orders from all over the world!

The idea for WattSpot came about like any other good business idea – necessity. Conor Nolan came up with the original concept one day when he was stuck in town with no battery and nowhere to go. He got in touch with me and asked is this something that could be turned into a business. I had a think about it and between the two of us we came up with a good idea of how to create a network of phone charging hubs around the country by targeting coffee shops, hotels, college campuses, bookmakers and many more. We have gone from strength to strength over the last number of months and there is also much activity in our pipeline. Studying Business and Entrepreneurship in IADT has been a huge benefit to us. The course teaches key skills that are crucial in business like marketing, accounting and economics but also offers an entrepreneurial flair that you don’t get with a standard business degree. We have learned key skills from doing the stalls project in first year and other activities like this over the following years. IADT offers small class sizes and incredible lecturers that are so approachable who have made such a difference for us starting a venture like this. We have had such support from our college and I would recommend Business and Entrepreneurship to anyone with aspirations to achieve success in business.
